Understanding Weight Loss Basics

Persons who need to lose weight are constantly searching for diets that work. The trick isn’t really finding a diet plan that works, but rather locating a diet to which a person can stick. The 46.8 billion dollar diet industry (as of 2005) depends not on people staying healthy and staying thin, but rather on people taking an endless yo-yo ride between health and fat. Because repeat business brings in the cash, the focus is surely on the roller coaster reality of poor living followed by short stints of diets and health programs.

So you want a diet that delivers? Here’s one. Combine limiting caloric intake to 1000 calories each day with at least 30 minutes of exercise at least five times a week. That diet will result in shedding weight. But there are two problems.

#1 cravings will likely end the diet. Sooner or later, particularly after returning home from work outs, those 1000 calories won’t be sufficient to satisfy. One piece of cake, or just one bag of chips, or one extra hot dog will soon motivate you to end the diet.

Exercise to Lose Stomach Fat Part 2 – Best Exercise to Lose Weight

If you read part 1 of this article then you know the two biggest misconceptions about stomach fat. First being that fat is fat no matter where it is located. Second being that since it’s the same there is no way to target a specific area to lose fat just there. As such the only way to get rid of belly fat is to get rid of all fat. With that in mind, the best exercise to lose weight are those that burn the highest amount of calories.

Best Exercise to Lose Weight

Going by the above, the more calories an exercise burns, the better it is for losing weight. Naturally some exercise are better at this than others, in general the more muscle groups are involved in performing a specific exercise the calories it will burn. For example running for the most part only involves leg muscles (and some core) where as playing tennis or basketball would also involve arm and core muscles in addition to leg muscles. And so long as intensity is the same, the two sports would result in more calories burned than just running for the same amount of time.
