<p>2. Laparoscopic Gastric Banding (Lap-Band). This surgery mainly is performed on individuals who are seriously overweight. Band which is inflatable is placed around the upper part of the stomach. Usually this device is intended to be permanent. The size of the band can be changed.</p>
<p>Risk of band slippage and side effects such as vomiting, nausea and abdominal pain may make you reconsider choosing this type of weight loss surgery.</p>
<p>3. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RGB) surgery reduces the size of the stomach. It&#8217;s achieved by stapling the upper part creating a smaller pouch which is attached to the small intestine. Purpose of this surgery is to help you eat less and absorb fewer nutrients.</p>
<p>Leaking, diarrhea, nausea are just few of the possible side effects. Also &#8220;dumping syndrome&#8221; may be present because the food moves too quickly through the small intestine.</p>
<p>4. Biliopancreatic Diversion (BPD). This is the riskiest surgery from all 4 that&#8217;s why it&#8217;s used very rarely. A huge chunk of stomach is just removed reducing its capacity helping you eat less. The surgery is complicated and you may suffer from nutritional deficiency.</p>

Once you have this under control, the next step is to add exercise to your plan. If you do not like exercising, take this one step at a time as well by implementing only 15 to 30 minutes at a time, at first.<span id="more-1281"></span></p>

Wherever you go there will be food.  You know how you have sabotaged your diet in the past when you went out to a party or a restaurant and it wasn&#8217;t pretty.  You beat yourself up over it for days afterwards and had a hard time getting back onto your diet or healthy eating plan.  How will you cope this time? </p>
<p>The number one tip is to plan ahead and visualize where you are going and what you are going to do when you  get there.  Repeat to yourself as you get ready to go out that you are going out to socialize and see your friends and family, not just to eat. </p>
<p>Prepare a plan in  your mind.  Visualize yourself choosing healthy food as you see the food or read the menu.  See yourself choosing the veggies, or the fruit.  Visualize choosing a green salad with low cal dressing or oil and vinegar on the side. Watch as you are catching up with your friends and ignoring the bread basket and you pass it on down the table.  When you order you ask the waitress to broil that fish, not fry it.  Picture serving yourself at the buffet table with healthy choices and walking right by the high fat, high calorie foods.  You&#8217;re at the table passing food around family style and you help yourself to lots of veggies and a small portion of potatoes or none at all.  Watch yourself not even flinching as your friends all go up and get desserts and you just could care less about it.  Envision that you just keep on socializing and that you are having such a great time you don&#8217;t even think about the desserts.</p>

<p>Number two tip is eat something filling and healthy just prior to leaving for your event. As you eat, repeat number one tip, you&#8217;re not going out just to eat, you&#8217;re off to socialize and visualize again how you want to behave. </p>
<p>The third tip is bring your own food to the gathering.  Here are some quick recipes to <a href="http://www.idealweightlossguide.com/weight-loss-tips/rsvp-and-byof-to-your-next-cookout" target="_blank">make a veggie or a fruit platter with a low fat dip</a>.  If you bring your own food,  you&#8217;ll know that there is one thing that you can nibble on when you need to.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s time for you to start thinking about this weight loss journey as a lifelong healthy eating plan, not a diet.  If you keep thinking of it as healthy eating, not dieting, you&#8217;ll know that you can continue to eat healthy and have the occasional treat without guilt.  The more that you practice at healthy eating, the easier it will become.  When your body is fueled by healthy foods, your blood sugar will become stable and you will have much less cravings for sweets and snack foods.  Enjoy healthy eating at your holiday feast!  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!</p>

<p>No, not at all like that, it was an inspiring look at how I think, and probably how  most people think about their goals and hopes and dreams.  I hope it&#8217;s not just me who has trouble with getting started working on a goal.  This ebook was motivating because it made me think about my goals, and then showed how I could take a goal and make it a priority in my life.  When that priority becomes a habit you&#8217;ll want to do it even more because you will feel motivated and good about your achievement.  Dave even uses weight loss and exercise as examples in the book.</p>

<p>The easy part is reading and planning for some day in the future when you will start that diet.  The hard part is motivating yourself to actually get started.</p>
<p>What is motivation? It is that push that gets you to start taking action. It is what propels your movement towards accomplishing your goal.</p>

<p>Sometimes motivation can start with an upcoming event, such as a wedding or a party or a trip that you are looking forward to, and that may be the trigger that gets you motivated to actually start working on your weight loss plan and taking the action needed.</p>
<p>What if you don&#8217;t have anything special coming up.  How do you motivate yourself?  You can use your mental thought processes to get you moving towards taking that first step of starting a weight loss journey.</p>
<p>Eliminate all negative thoughts about the diet.  &#8221;It is hard work, I don&#8217;t know how to follow a diet, I don&#8217;t have the right food in the house. I will just gain the weight back, I will be hungry all the time, I&#8217;m too busy right now, I&#8217;m too stressed right now,  I can&#8217;t do it today, I&#8217;ll start tomorrow &#8230;&#8221;   Does all this negative self talk sound familiar? </p>
<p>We all do this internal dialogue.  You can work at replacing those negative thoughts with positive ones.</p>
<p>&#8220;I can do this&#8221;<br />
&#8220;I will start this diet for my health&#8221; <br />
&#8220;Today I will start eating healthier.&#8221;<br />
&#8220;I will buy healthy foods and snacks.&#8221;</p>
<p><a href="http://www.idealweightlossguide.com/wp-content/uploads/Just-Do-It.jpg"><img class="size-full wp-image-496 alignright" title="Just Do It" src="http://www.idealweightlossguide.com/wp-content/uploads/Just-Do-It.jpg" alt="Just Do It" width="130" height="98" /></a>&#8220;Just do it now&#8221; is my favorite.  It does not matter that you do not feel totally prepared yet. It is ok that you have not studied everything there is to know about weight loss yet.  You have to just jump in and do something, anything that will give you a starting point.  It is the process of taking action, any action towards the goal, that gives you the motivation to keep taking more actions.</p>
<p>If you have only read two chapters in that weight loss book, just start right now by practicing what you learned in those two chapters.  If you have no healthy food in the house, just start today by buying one shopping bag of  only healthy food. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s a funny thing with motivation, it builds upon itself.  Each tiny action that you are motivated to take, will motivate you to repeat that action and to take another action.<br />
